Dear friends, today I will tell you my experience at the restaurant Vento di Sardegna.
We all love exploring new trendy places, but usually, after trying something trendy, we return to our old, beloved nostalgic institutions. Especially when friends come to visit and expect Italy to deliver an extensive menu, generous portions, and charismatic adult waiters. And who among the locals doesn’t love that? That’s why I always try to expand my list of such establishments, so I don’t have to go to Brasserie Mediterranea each and every time.
Vento di Sardegna passed successfully my inspection. As you enter, you are greeted by a collection of photos with famous visitors (an Italian quality mark), a fish display, and a dessert showcase. The restaurant is quite large, with a full seating. The interior is not dull, especially if you’re not seated facing the wall, where old-fashioned photographs of Sardinia views hang, although by the end of the evening, they become dear to you.
Yes, as it often happens, at the beginning, you have to make an effort to get a menu and to place an order, but overall, the service is very good. They quickly bring both the dishes and, importantly, the bill. We had a super waiter Andrea. As for the downsides, the menu is small, and one pasta dish seemed average to my companions. And, friends, don’t order the famous Sardinian dessert, Seadas. As I was told at the restaurant, if you want a Seadas that’s not just good, but excellent (buonissimo), you need to eat it in Sardinia because only the sea, vibe, and wind make its taste magical.
Among the advantages (and there were quite a few): excellent fritto misto, fresh oysters, and red shrimp. Be sure to pay attention to the tartare made from these same shrimp with stracciatella and truffle, as well as the pasta, again with shrimp and truffle.
And now the main thing! I ordered the lobster alla Catalana. And, attention, it turned out to be one of the best in the city, on par with Trattoria del Pescatore. With the high-quality tomatoes and a perfectly meaty lobster. Although, I had to crack the claws myself (or to ask a neighbor). But the lobster was of such quality that I definitely recommend it to you (to be shared by two persons as a main course or as the only dish for dinner for one).
No need to complicate things with wines: of course, in a Sardinian restaurant, you should drink cold Vermentino, the one recommended by the waiter. And for dessert, pay attention to the unconventional grape and strawberry sorbet.
So, come to Vento di Sardegna for dinner with a large group and choose a table inside; you can book it online. The average bill, considering the quality of the food, is very pleasant – 70 euros per person.
By the way, this restaurant made it onto my list with a note: recommendations of Milanese to Milanese. I love exploring this category because our tastes often differ. This time, they coincided! I will definitely come back here for the lobster.
