Sant Ambroeus: a gastronomic spot for Montenapoleone shopping lovers

Take a break from a shopping tour at via Montenapoleone in a Milanese institution with a history.

By the way, during Milan Fashion Week it’s the main place for insiders of the industry to have a quick bite

Dear friends, today I would like to tell you about one of Milan’s institutions since 1936, Sant Ambroeus, especially since it underwent a complete renovation at the end of last year.

Its prime location (just seconds away from Piazza San Babila) makes it particularly valuable for those who come to Milan for shopping. Whether you want to grab a coffee at the bar counter or sit down for a proper (non-Italian) breakfast, a lunch that doesn’t end at 3:00 pm (rare case in Italy), or even have an aperitivo that smoothly transitions into dinner, including a late one, all of this is possible here.

What I love about this place is the respectable flair of the real Milan: office workers, beautiful Arab tourists with Hermes bags, and fashion bloggers from around the world all gather here. In short, you feel like you’re at the center of it all.

Plus, there’s attentive service, beautiful tableware, and very high prices! For me, as a local, Sant Ambroeus is not a restaurant for dinner, but an Americano with a delicious croissant filled with tons of butter inside will only cost you 10 euros. It’s a delightful way to start the day while planning your shopping route, I must say!

Important Note: It’s worth mentioning that you shouldn’t go to Sant Ambroeus for drinks after 9:00 pm. The carriage turns into a pumpkin, and suddenly the service becomes lackluster, with neither bites, nor even olives accompanying your glass of wine, only ordering dishes from the menu. During the day, it’s a different , and a very nice, story.
