Sakeya. A restaurant of Japanese author’s cuisine with the largest choice of sake in Milan.

Hidden restaurant with a quiet atmosphere and cocktail bar in one place.

Dear friends, if you want to change the picture of Italian places and you like sake, pay attention to Sakeya.

You will find a pleasant interior and dimmed light, the serving of dishes is exquisite. The service here struck me as a contrast to the usual Italian one (they serve rather on equal terms, in a friendly way), but in Sakeya you will be honored and surrounded by attention.

The staff is almost all Japanese, except for the sommelier. As you can guess, the sommelier specializes not on wine, but on sake. I don’t drink it, but here I simply had no chance to resist, as each dish has its own alcoholic pairing and, as it turns out, sake comes in different flavors, and it’s very tasty! If you still prefer the classics, there is a wine list too.

The cuisine is all about non-banal combinations. Salad with crab, delicious eel kebab, lamb, and desserts: real mochi, I also took some sort of ice cream, salted caramel and bean popcorn dish. Very weird but tasty, something similar to snickers bar.

So, it’s perfect for lovers of gastronomic exploration. My recommendation: come with a group of friends, take a table in the bar area at the entrance, pick different dishes to taste and trust the sommelier. The room in the back is also nice, more restaurant-mood, but also a little less remarkable, in my opinion.

We paid 75 euros per person. What is important – the dishes were brought very quickly, always on time. About the nuances: the restaurant has a quiet atmosphere, if you are looking for a big city vibe, it’s better to choose another place (for example from my list of fancy restaurants).

And I will definitely come back here again to try the authentic sushi. Keep in mind their price is above average. And of course for the plum sake based spritz, turns out it’s very tasty!
