Dear friends, Lacerba is located on Via Orti, in a vivid area near the center. The venue consists of two parts: a quiet restaurant and a bustling bar. It’s a great combo, where you can have a peaceful dinner and chat, and complement all that with a drink either before or after in the atmosphere of a genuine Milanese aperitivo. By the way, the bar has a creative interior and many interesting decor objects, and the crowd also gathers outside, which really livens up the neighborhood and entices you to come in.
A Fusion of History and Modernity
Lacerba is housed in a former horse parking, I am not sure if it’s the correct term though, and the remnants of its past are evident throughout the space. The cobblestone floors and stone columns supporting the ceiling give the restaurant a rustic charm. The lighting is delicate and pleasant, a rarity in many Italian establishments. Adorning the walls are paintings, posters, and manifestos from the Futurist movement, which is no coincidence, as the restaurant takes its name from the eponymous Florentine magazine Lacerba, founded in 1913 and a prominent voice of Italian Futurism.
A Menu Rooted in the Land
Although Lacerba offers some seafood options, the menu leans more towards dishes inspired by the land rather than the sea. The meat tagliata was perfect, and while the portions may not be enormous, the average bill, including desserts and wine, is around 60 euros. The service at Lacerba is excellent, with our witty waiter eagerly sharing stories about the dishes and the history of the place.
A Unique Dining Experience
Lacerba may not leave an indelible impression on everyone, but I recommend it to those who are familiar with Milan or those looking to break away from the typical trattoria experience. However, it is worth noting that my dining companions enjoyed the restaurant much more than I did, perhaps due to my professional bias. Nonetheless, I suggest pairing a visit to the Museo del Novecento, which houses the world’s largest collection of Futurist art, with a dinner at Lacerba to truly immerse yourself in the theme. The walk from the museum to the restaurant takes approximately 20 minutes.
And as for me, it may be more suited for the winter months. So the perfect season is about to start!
