Dear friends, I am revisiting and re-rating the hostaria La Terza Carbonaia on my list of excellent restaurants.
I admit that I previously underestimated it due to my personal aversion to the restaurant’s garden, which my friends always booked for dining. To be fair, this area is the most popular among patrons, so it’s quite plausible you may appreciate it more than I did. Curious fact, it was in this very garden where we spotted a famous Russian singer, just before he was finally added to the sanctions list a few days later.
La Terza Carbonaia is an ideal place for those yearning for a genuine Italian trattoria experience. Its simplicity in decor reminds you of a canteen, it’s lively, with pristine white tablecloths, and a waiter who always knows better than you what to order (and this is what I like in the typical restaurants).
The traditional Italian appetizers are all present: bruschetta, prosciutto, meat carpaccio, pumpkin flowers in batter, perfect artichokes with grana, and sautéed mushrooms – everything is familiar, delectable, and distinctly Italian.
For the main course, I strongly recommend the meat. The Fiorentina and tagliata at La Terza Carbonaia are among the best in Milan. There will be no queries about the desired level of cooking, and it will be served perfectly seared with a brown crust and a deep red interior.
I would like to give special mention to the restaurant’s signature dessert: bitter orange in syrup with a spicy zest. Its unique flavor promises to delight your palate.
To sum up, the ambiance is relaxed and quintessentially Italian. An additional perk: the bill averages around 65 euros per person. And if you ask me, I’d suggest choosing a table indoors rather than in the garden.
