Not only Milan

Florence Restaurant Guide. Part 1.

Extending on our non-Milan experience - let's take a course to the birthplace of Renaissance and discover the best dining places here.

Dear friends, I recently went to Florence to attend the most important (perhaps in the whole world) men’s fashion event – Pitti Uomo. On this occasion, I compiled my gastronomic top there.

There are touristy and authentic, expensive and affordable places on the list, but all worthwhile! You definitely won’t regret visiting them:

Rivoire. A historic grand cafe in the heart of Florence with pretentious interiors and great service. Great to stop by for a cup of the iconic hot chocolate with whipped cream or for a hearty breakfast as well.

Vivoli Gelateria. A simple and authentic ice cream shop at first sight. But for the record – the viral caffè affogato, which has been all over Instagram, is made here.

Trattoria Da Bibe. Traditional trattoria from Michelin recommendations 20 minutes by car away from the center. Reasonable prices, charm of an old family business, garden in summer, good wine list. I had the best Fiorentina in my life exactly here!

All’Antico Vinaio. Now the brand is known worldwide and you can taste their signature panini in many cities. To taste all the authenticity I recommend queue up in the queue where it all started – at vi de’Neri, grabbing your sandwich and a plastic cup of wine to have a snack, while sitting on the steps near the Uffizi Gallery.

Caffè Gilli. This is said to be Florence’s oldest cafe and unofficially the main bar for Pitti Uomo attendees. During the exhibition the place is crowded – fashionistas change from classic shoes to sneakers and go to relax and continue networking. In other time I recommend you to come to the institution for a coffee or aperitif by the beautiful bar counter in retro style. And the best thing afterwards is to take a ride on the carousel, which is literally in front of Gilli!

I highly recommend everyone to go to Florence, considering it’s only 2 hours away from Milan by the comfortable Frecciarossa train. Of course, you should go there for the culture and the beauty of the city first of all. And my list will make the gastronomic side perfect as well. By the way, the second part of the guide is coming soon!
