Al Porto. Seafood Experience You Won’t Regret

Unfairly uncharted by gastronomic guides, this restaurant has a class and a character of true Milanese establishment since 1967.

Dear friends, I wondered how many times one can visit the same places, and so I embarked on a quest to explore some excellent traditional seafood restaurants.

In my search for guidance, I sought the advice shared among the Milanese locals, which led me to Al Porto.

Upon arriving, we were greeted by an impressive display of fresh fish and seafood on ice. Beyond that, an open kitchen bustled with waiters carrying plates back and forth. It was exactly the kind of atmosphere I adore in an authentic Italian restaurant.

The service had a charmingly old-school touch, with the boss elegantly describing off-menu dishes and offering recommendations with a good portion of jokes, undoubtedly the same for years. And it was fun!

The dining area followed the Italian golden standard with bright lighting, exuding a traditional and inviting ambiance. The clientele comprised of well-groomed gentlemen accompanied by their elderly companions, elegantly dressed ladies in heels, and a few Eastern Europeans, providing a pleasant opportunity for people-watching.

The cuisine left me in awe. The tuna tartare and ricciola I ordered were flawless. As for my main course, I opted for the boiled aragosta, which arrived expertly cleaned from its shell— surely an indicative of a restaurant of a high level. The dish came with a delightful homemade mayonnaise. I highly recommend it to fellow lobster enthusiasts!

Although we hadn’t planned to indulge in desserts, Al Porto surprised us with a complimentary plate of divine tartufo — something reminiscent of both pastries and truffle chocolates. I couldn’t resist devouring two without the slightest hint of guilt, and the taste still lingers in my memory! Meanwhile the nearby ladies couldn’t help but express their excitement when they caught a glimpse of my abs – the little things that bring me joy!

Oh, and the bill amounted to 90 euros per person. Al Porto reminded me of La Risacca in terms of atmosphere, albeit slightly more casual. Without a doubt, Al Porto has secured its spot on my list of recommendations!
